Knowledge
Anyone working with conference interpreters for the first time has many questions: How are the costs made up? What equipment is needed? What do the interpreters need in advance? Here you will find the answers from more than 30 years of experience in organising interpreting teams.
Fees
Conference interpreters do not charge hourly rates but daily fees, which cover the assignment and the preparation. Overtime, travel expenses and daily allowances may be added.
Confidentiality
At supervisory board meetings, negotiations or internal events, interpreters learn confidential information. Confidentiality, impartiality and accuracy are part of their professional ethics.
Interpreting booths
For simultaneous interpreting, interpreters work in soundproof booths, mobile or permanently installed – usually one booth per language. What matters for set-up and location.
Preparatory material
Presentations, speeches, agendas, minutes: the better prepared the interpreters are, the better the interpretation. Which documents help.
Tips for event organisers
Sending documents in good time and providing good conference technology improves the quality of the interpretation. Our tips for working with conference interpreters.
Recording and streaming
The copyright in the interpretation belongs to the interpreters. If it is to be recorded or streamed, they grant a right of use – for an additional recording fee.
