Interpreting
Are you planning a congress, conference, or meeting, are you organising a European Works Council conference or a business meeting, a training session or a visit to a factory and you need to recruit interpreters? Different types of get-together require specific modes of interpreting. We can provide all the necessary information and will be glad to assist you.
Overview of various interpreting modes:
- Conference interpreting:
Simultaneous interpreting: In simultaneous interpreting the interpreters sit in booths and convey the words they hear continuously and at the same time into the target language (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian). The number of interpreters and booths required and the type of equipment depend on the type of meeting and the number of listeners.
Consecutive interpreting: In consecutive interpreting the interpreter uses note-taking techniques to render the message from the source language to the target language, once the speaker has finished speaking. This interpreting mode is suitable for welcoming addresses, after-dinner speeches, formal addresses and negotiations within a small group.
Whispering interpreting: Whispering interpreting is similar to simultaneous interpreting but without interpreting equipment. The whispering mode is often used in combination with consecutive interpreting in meetings with a limited number of participants where there is more discussion than lengthy presentations.
- Accompanying interpreting: This is a form of interpreting suitable for visits to trade fairs, and visits of small groups.
Translating
SIMCONSULT provides translations in various languages (e.g. Arabic, Belorussian, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian). Since 1996 we have been constantly adding to our translator database and so we are also able to offer translations in languages such as Korean, Latvian, or Singhalese.
The subject is an essential factor in selecting the translator. SIMCONSULT only commissions translators who are specialised in the relevant subject. SIMCONSULT also provides the translators with glossary lists which are constantly updated, covering the most frequently occurring subject areas (e.g. law, business, medicine, media, technology, architecture).
For those clients who regularly require translations, SIMCONSULT recruits teams of translators, ensuring that the translations for any one client are always done by the same translators and guaranteeing uniformity of terminology over a series of translation orders. For customers requiring a large volume of translation work (five or more translations per month) we have developed a sophisticated web-based portal system to minimize the work of processing the orders for our clients.
Many companies have limited capacity of their employeess mailboxes, which may create problems in dealing with large files (larger than 5 or 10 MB). In such cases we can offer FTP solutions to handle large files. Of course we can process other file types apart from Microsoft Office Files.

Interpreting equipment
Depending on the type of event and the venue the interpreting equipment requirements may differ. For a factory visit with five participants you may need a portable system with microphone and earsets. For an international symposium with interpretation in various languages you will need interpreting booths, microphones and headset receivers.
